Define what the brand needs
A single logo differs from an identity system with color, typography, application rules, and templates. Identify the audience, touchpoints, existing assets, and decision makers. Quotes often differ because the research, applications, and handover are not the same.
Ask for usable outputs
Clarify design directions and revisions, file formats, usage rights, guidance for applying the identity, and whether digital interfaces or print materials are included. Review realistic applications, not only a logo mockup. “Complete identity” is not a useful scope unless the deliverables are written down.
Budget for implementation
You may still need social templates, a website, presentations, or team training. Include those tasks rather than discovering them after handover. Scope brand identity and UI/UX work around the actual touchpoints.
