How to choose an e-commerce platform

Evaluate platforms by actual operations, integrations, ownership, and ongoing costs.

Test your hardest workflow first

Do you sell product variants, hold stock in several places, use special pricing, or have complex delivery rules? Run that workflow in a candidate platform before comparing template galleries. Also test how easily staff can add and revise Arabic product content; it will be routine work.

Count operating costs

The real cost may include extensions, payment processing, hosting, development, maintenance, and future migration. Ask how to export products, customers, and orders, and who owns the domain, design, and content. A fully custom system may be excessive if your needs are standard and your team cannot maintain it.

Validate with a real order

Create a product, place a test order, process a return, and read a basic report. A sales promise cannot replace a working demonstration. Document these acceptance tasks in your e-commerce development brief.
